Not Quite a White Christmas

Deb & Dado left today, after a wonderful Christmas visit, which makes me sad. But there's an icing sugar dusting of snow on the ground right now, which is making me smile. And it's still coming down - the big, fluffy, beautiful kind of flakes. The ones that beg you to catch them on your tongue.

I think I'm going to go outside & answer their call right now.

Some Things Never Change

I watched an episode of "Sesame Street" today while hanging out with my friends James & Elizabeth. I'm happy to say that Cookie Monster never fails to makes me smile & I still know all the words to "Doin' the Pigeon". (Insert your own Bert & Ernie gay joke here. I'm not going to do it for you - I'm one of the few people who will forever believe they were just innocent boy roommates.)

I've heard my mum say that I used to watch "Sesame Street" six times a day when I was little. I think this figure may be a tad exaggerated, but if Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird and Kermit are one of the reasons I've carried on a life-long love affair with reading, words, language and writing, I don't care if I watched it 100 times a day! Of course, it may also be where I developed a life-long love affair with chocolate-chip cookies.

I'm sure I learned many important life lessons from a bunch of Muppets. And I know I'm not the only one. Millions of kids and their parents can thank Jim Henson & the Muppets for making education fun & funny at the same time. Next month will mark the 40th Anniversary of Sesame Street. It continues to be a special show that teaches special things...like how to be a good & decent person, how to be tolerant of others & how to ask where the library is in Spanish (or in French if you live in Canada). Apparently, it's also the fountain of youth for the humans who live there because Maria still looks exactly the same!

My Best Friend's Wedding

It's here, it's here, it's finally here! Marn's getting married on Saturday! Whoo hoo!

I just finished packing (a large part of the fun of any trip - don't read that sarcastically, I actually mean it) for our trip to Toronto. We're leaving bright (well, as bright as it gets at 4:00 a.m.) & early for the airport tomorrow morning. I've got my magazines, gum, Dramamine & fuzzy socks all packed. If you've never exchanged your shoes for fuzzy socks during a flight, you're missing out! It's a nice little upgrade you can give yourself in a world where the upgrade to first class is beyond most people's means.

I've been feeling a little out-of-sorts for the past few weeks. Not in a bad way, just in a "Why can't I get it together right now?" way. Thankfully, visiting with family & friends for a week is usually a wonderful tonic for my soul. Wearing a party dress & strappy shoes doesn't hurt either. Plus, weddings of best friends are the best kind!

Hey Marn, in case I forget to tell you later, I had an awesome time on Saturday.

Happily ever afterly,

Today's Horoscope

"You have a kind of creativity that knows no bounds today and a kind of originality that knows no limits. How are you going to go about expressing this rich creativity that is so abundant inside of you? If your environment doesn't allow you to express this creativity, change environments and try to make a new reality for yourself. This is the only way you will be able to use this incredible energy productively."

I like it! I'm going with it.

Just a Little Longer, Please?!

Since I've essentially (& inadvertantly) taken the summer off from posting, I've decided to continue on with that trend for a few more weeks. I'll be back in September with new stories & a refreshed creative spirit.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

What Happened to June?

Since my last post, I have ended one job, started another & moved to a new (rented) house. All in the same month! This is why I've been conspicuously (or maybe not so much) absent from blogging during May & June.

I'm still here but life has been kinda' crazy lately. Things should start to slow down soon though...just in time for a trip up to Canada! Yahoo!

Happy summer!
